Myslivna Liboháj Gamekeeper's lodge

The remains of the hunting grounds Liboháj, located near the Liboháj pond in the northern part of the cadastral territory of the city Chotěboře, are remnants of the Empire building from the beginning of the 19th century. This monument is important not only by its historical significance as part of the Chotěboř estate, but also by a unique architecture that included elegant Doric risalite. Although the hunting grounds were decayed and suffered serious damage after the fire in 2002, it is still recognised as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Myslivna Liboháj was built on Chotěboř Manor in the first half of the 19th century, which in 1836 married Jan Josef Dobřenský from Dobřenice. This house then definitely inherited the estate after the death of Mary Frederica in 1847. The history of this monument is closely linked to historical events that have affected the whole of Europe, such as the Napoleonic war conflicts and subsequent restaurants of monarchy. These events had an impact on the architectural style of the time, which was reflected also in the equipment of the hunting Empire style.

The architecture of the hunting grounds Liboháj was characterized by its uniqueness. The building had a floor plan in the shape of the letter "L" and was located in the grove between the pond and the Stone River. The most interesting part was the Doric Rizalite, which represented an elegant architectural detail. Unfortunately, this risalite, along with other building elements, collapsed after the fire in 2002. After this incident, the construction continued to disintegrate and some of its parts were completely destroyed.

The property of the Libohai Hunting House has undergone some significant changes. After the February coup in 1948, the owners went from Dobřenský family to Canada. In 1992 the castle was in Chotěboři returned to the Dobřenský family, but hunting became the property of another owner. This change of ownership reflects wider historical events and their impact on local families.

Key events in relation to Liboháj hunting were the position of the construction in the first half of the 19th century, the acquisition of the manor by Jan Josef Dobřenský in 1836 and the departure of owners to Canada after the February coup in 1948. Another important event was to send a request to the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic for the cancellation of the monument protection in 2015, indicating the complications associated with the maintenance and management of this historical building.

Today, the remains of Libohai Hunting are in a very disreputable state. After the fire in 2002, there are no longer original Doric columns or flat vaults, which led to the complete disappearance of some of its parts. Despite these problems, the monument still represents an interesting historical element in the landscape around Chotěboře, which can be a attraction for visitors to the history and architecture.

Visiting the remains of Liboháj Hunting House is an opportunity to see evidence of the past, which, even in a decaying state, retains its historical value. Although its original architectural elements no longer exist, the monument is worth visiting as a reminder of the past times and changes that the region has undergone.
