tvrz Dráchov Granary

Dráchov is a Gothic fortress from the 14th century, which stands in the northern part of the same-name village in the district of Tabor. The two-storey quarry stone building represents a valuable historical monument protected as a cultural heritage. During its existence, it served as a mansion, a granary and ultimately as an agricultural warehouse.

Dráchov Fortress was founded in the 14th century under the rule of Luxembourg, when Czech countries underwent economic and cultural boom. Later developments in the fifteenth century were deeply marked by Hussite wars and subsequent political negotiations on power influence in the region. Only a number of written records of owners were preserved about the oldest building modifications.

The two-storey seat has a rectangular plan and is made of quarry stone. It is shielded by the valb roof, beneath which the original beam ceiling was preserved. A simple stone portal in the west facade, above which lies a shooting hole, enters the interior. In the level of the second floor there are three walled windows under the crown ledge. Similar holes, walled windows or inputs are also on other sides. Some of the vents with brick sheaths are probably secondary punctured.

The first documented owner of the village and the fort was in 1354 Oldřich z Dráchova. A year earlier, he founded a new altar in Tuchape church and gave him salaries from Kratošice. He bought the village from him, and he started using an Dráchova. After his death around 1385, the farm belonged to his underage daughters. Their guardians became Jan of Rožmberk, Mrakech of Petrovic as purcrabs of the Stories and Henry of Radostovice as purcrabs of Český Krumlov. The new master of Dráchova became Jan z Pacova in 1388. He married Hackle's older daughter Anna and later probably sold the village. In the years 1403 and 1405, Ondřej was reminded in Dráchov of the Movement, in 1413 Slavek Bajant of Vyhnanic and two years later Jindřich Lefl z Lažan. He sold the village to Henry of Naděkov in 1416. After that, the son of Jiří z Vyhnanic inherited the property by sitting on Dráchov, documented between 1428 and 1447. The likely successor was Peter from Dráchova, who testified in 1450 to the hostility of Oldřich from Rožmberk. At the end of the 15th century in Dráchov, Henry of Dráchova lived. His sons Hynek, Václav, and VESTOR sold the village with a fortress, a court and a desolate sailing court called the Wind in 1505 to the priest Catherine of Minsterberk, born of Sas, for 2350 kicks of grosses. Her daughter Anna married Henry from Hradec (or according to Karl Trusky from Oldřich from Hradec) and as widow on 25 February 1545, Dráchov bequeathed Jachy and Zachariah to her grandchildren. Since then, Dráchov has been part of the estate of Kardashov Speaker.

Among the key events are 1354 with the first documented owner and 1505, when the sons of Henry of Dráchov sold the fort to Catherine of Minsterberk. The meeting of Jiří of Vyhnanice from 1437 between Oldřich of Rožmberk and the Tábor Union on the Castles of the Třeběnice and the Tábor was also an important moment. After joining Kardashov's estate, the fortress lost its function as a mansion and was adapted to a granary. Its historical fortification in the form of waves was still visible in the field in 1757.

In the second half of the twentieth century, the building used a single agricultural cooperative as a warehouse. After 1990, the owners of the Drachov estate acquired a descriptive number 37. This Gothic building resembles medieval regional architecture and development of rural noble settlements. The visit to the village Dráchov offers a view of the preserved historical fortress with a number of original building details.
