Vasilsko is located four kilometres southwest of Slavičín in Rudimov, in the Zlín Region. The settlement is located in the northern part of the White Carpathians, in the Protected Landscape Area of the same name, on the ridge between the valley of the rivers Vasilsko and Blystice. It is surrounded by characteristic peaks - on the cesевer of Ploskina (477 m), in the east of Široká (411 m), in the south-east of Louka (419 m), in the south of Kolelac (390 m) and in the west of Plosti (467 m). The water tank of the same name lies south of Kolelac Valley. The location is well available - the Flemish railway leads east of the settlement, the nearest railway station Hostetín is located less than two kilometres south-east.

The written history of Vasilska begins in 1131, when a settlement called Vasile first mentions Bishop Jindřich Zdik as part of the Olomouc diocese in the property register. In the following centuries it gradually changed owners - in 1367 it was owned by Pešek z Vasil, in 1440 it became part of the Engelsberk bishops. During the 15th century, during the period of power struggles between Jiří z Poděbrad and Matyáš Korvina, the village was abandoned and Svetlov and Engelsberg castles destroyed. Wasyl or Wasily still appear as an abandoned village in the years 1518, 1544 and 1550.

The second half of the 16th century brought restoration - rod Tettauerů z Tettau built a mansion on the site of the former village. Wassilsko Manor is first mentioned in 1598. In the 17th century, Vasilsko became part of a rich heritage - in 1613 it was won by Count František II. Serényi, after whose death in 1621 his sons inherited the property. Over time it was owned by other nobles: since 1750 Count Quirard Josef Saint Julien, since 1757 as purchase from the Olomouc Bishop for 12,000 guilders. In 1803, the sons sold it to Zhufii Haugwic, and the property was gradually passed between Karl Haugwic and Jindřech Larisch-Moennih.

The Larisch-Moennik family has kept their land title until modern times. Eugen Larisch-Moennich (1835-1880) united Svetlov and Vasilsko in 1859. Until the mid-19th century, Vasilsko maintained its autonomy as a estate. The definitive change came in 1850 when it became part of the village Rudimov after the abolition of the system. In the subsequent decades, the owners continued to change - since 1884, the county of Bellegarde, Count Karatsonyi, and Prince Lubomirski, from 1906.

Today, Vasilsko spreads out as a settlement in the middle of the protected landscape of the White Carpathians, where mountain nature meets deep anchoring in European history. The visitor will find traces of the Central European estate and more than eight centuries of human destinies - from the first mention in the bishop's cadastral, to the time of abandonment and a new rise to life in the saddle of the Czech aristocracy.

Vasilsko is a hamlet in the municipality of Rudimov in the Zlín Region, four kilometers southwest of Slavičín. In German, it was called Wasilsko or Wassilsko. In older sources, it appears as Vassyl, Vasily, or Wasyly.

The hamlet lies in the northern part of Bílé Karpaty, in a protected landscape area. You can find it on a ridge between the valleys of the Vasilsko and Blyštice streams. To the north rises the hill Ploštiny at 477 meters high, to the west Plošti at 467 meters. Further south, in the Kolelač valley, there is a reservoir of the same name. To the east of the hamlet runs the Vlárská railway. The nearest station, Hostětín, is not quite two kilometers to the southeast, in open countryside.

The first written mention of the village Vasile comes from 1131, from an inventory of the property of the Olomouc bishop Jindřich Zdík. In 1367, the village was owned by Pešek z Vasil, and in 1440 it belonged to the bishop's fief Engelsberg. The castles Engelsberg and Světlov then temporarily served the knight Pankrác ze Svatého Mikuláše as a base for raids. In 1449, they were bought by Moravian estates and sold on further. During the fights between Jiří z Poděbrad and Matthias Corvinus, both castles were destroyed and the village of Vasily was depopulated. It is mentioned as abandoned still in the years 1518, 1544, and 1550.

In the second half of the 16th century, the Tetour family from Tetov built a manor house on the site of the defunct village. The estate Wassilsko is documented from 1598 and was among 68 bishop's fiefs. In 1613, it was acquired by Count František Druhý Serényi. When his sons divided the property in 1633, the fief of Vasilsko along with the rest of Světlov fell to Gabriel.

In 1750, Countess Karolína Serényiová bequeathed Světlov and Vasilsko to her husband, Count Quiard Josef Saint Julien. He bought Vasilsko from the Olomouc bishopric in 1757 for 12,000 guldens. His sons sold the property in 1803 to Žofie Haugwicová from Biskupice. After her, it was inherited by her son Karel, and later by his brother-in-law, Count Jindřich Larisch-Moennich.

After the abolition of the fief system, Vasilsko became part of the municipality of Rudimov in 1850. In 1859, Eugen Larisch-Moennich united the estates of Světlov and Vasilsko into one property. From 1884, it belonged to the counts of Bellegarde, from 1906 to Count Karátsonyimu, and a year later to Prince Lubomirský.
