Železniční strážní domek čp. 51, a registered cultural monument, is located in Sudislav nad Orlicí on the railway line between Prague and Česká Třebová. Built in 1845, this historical site served as a railway watchtower, representing the early infrastructure of the regional rail network.

The building was constructed by the Severní státní dráha company during the completion and commissioning of the line between Brandýs nad Orlicí and Bezpráví in 1845. In the early days of railway transport, operations relied on optical signal transmission. Watchtowers were positioned approximately one kilometer apart to facilitate visual contact between neighboring buildings. Each watchman was responsible for supervising a designated section for 24 hours; if he left his post, his wife or family members assumed his duties.

This ground-floor masonry building features a square floor plan with a short wing, oriented towards the railway track. It has a saddle roof with an overhanging edge and a protruding chimney. The entrance is located on the side of the wing, and the high basement has its own separate entrance. As of 2016, the exterior is finished with grey smooth plaster.

Originally, the interior consisted of a single family apartment comprising a kitchen, a larger room, and a smaller room, typically accompanied by one service room. The entrance was originally positioned on the opposite side of the tracks, and a wooden veranda was added later.

The monument was initially owned by the Severní státní dráha company. Later, it served as a storage facility for tools and materials used for track maintenance. Since 1994, the property has been in private ownership.

To ensure survival in remote locations, especially during winter, the building was designed for self-sufficiency. It included a cellar for food storage and an attic for storing hay and straw for livestock. The site originally featured several separate structures, including sheds, a stable, and a dry toilet, as well as a well and small garden.

After 1885, when working hours were reduced, many such watchtowers were expanded with additional service rooms or converted into multi-apartment dwellings. Eventually, the function of these stations became obsolete with the introduction of Morse telegraph, electric bell systems, telephones, and other security technologies. The buildings were then used solely for residential purposes.

The monument currently stands on an artificial elevation at the edge of the railway embankment within a curve of the track. It remains a preserved example of mid-19th-century railway architecture.
