Doosan Arena, also known as Stadion in Strunk orchards, is a football stadium in Pilsen and serves as the home playground of the primary club FC Viktoria Pilsen. This complex has a rich history, which dates back to 1955, when it was originally built as a stadium with an athletic track in the park of Štrunca set. In 2011, a complex rebuilding took place at the modern football stadium, making it an important sports centre for the city and the region.

The creation of Doosan Arena is closely linked to the post-war renewal and expansion of the mass body movement in Czechoslovakia. The original stadium was designed by ing. arch. The remaining silent along with designers Krpejš, Jílka and Fořt. The construction began in September 1953 and was completed in June 1955 when the stadium opened for the public during the regional spartakiad. This complex had an oval plan with concrete stands and was designed to meet the needs of light athletic.

The architecture of the stadium has undergone several stages of development. In 1958 a two-storey tribune was built on the west side, which was the gift of the Škoda races to the city of Pilsen. This bleachers, designed by ing. Kalser and ing. Křík, became one of the best in Czechoslovakia in their time thanks to 450 tonnes of steel construction supplied by Vítkovických hardware companies. From 1960 the stadium served its purpose, but the finishing work lasted until 1963.

The ownership and management of the stadium changed over the years. The original construction was carried out by the national firm Armastav, while later reconstruction took place with the participation of various construction and engineering companies. In 2010, the city of Pilsen decided to rebuild the stadium which began in April 2011. This reconstruction was motivated by the need to meet the requirements of UEFA and allow Viktoria Plzeň to play European cups at home stadium.

Key events in the history of Doosan Arena include the first friendly match with the Brazilian Flamingo in 1962, which Victoria Pilsen won 2: 1. Another memorable match was a duel with Bayern Munich in the 1971 / 72 PVP season and the interstate match of Czechoslovakia. A reconstruction took place in the years 2000-2003, which included installation of heated lawn and conversion of all seating positions.

Today Doosan Arena is a modern football stadium with a capacity for 12,500 spectators. After reconstruction in 2011, new stands, heated lawn and artificial lighting technologies were introduced. The stadium is open to the public and serves not only as a playground of FC Viktoria Plzeň, but also hosts various sports events and concerts.

Doosan Arena is more than just a football stadium; It's a place with rich history and importance to the local community. Its conversion to a modern area allowed Victoria Pilsen to play European cups at home, which was previously impossible due to the absence of UEFA conditions. For tourists and football fans, Doosan Arena is an interesting place, which offers not only sporting events, but also an opportunity to explore the history of Czech football.

Visit Doosan Arena is also a journey to the past and present. The stadium reflects the important period of Czech sports traditions by its creation and development and its modernization represents a successful example of the adaptation of the historical site to current needs. For those who want to experience Pilsen football in the atmosphere of a modern stadium with a rich history, Doosan Arena is a necessary destination.

We will start with the first impression: in front of you is a modern building that combines functional design with sports atmosphere. The stadium offers a view of the playground surrounded by stands and surrounding green landscape of the park Štrunca set.

Doosan Arena has roots dating back to 1955, when it was built the first stadium in athletic style. This resort was intended to serve as a sports center for local residents and at the same time it became an important place for football gatherings. In 1958, a western two-storey stand was added, a gift from the Damage plant and a symbol of industrial sport support at that time.

Now let's move on to architecture. The stadium is the work of several talented architects such as Zbynek Silent and his colleagues. Take a look up the bleachers - their 2011 design represents a modern approach to the stadium design that focuses the spectators right at the game.

Key stories and personalities associated with this monument are closely linked to the history of football in Pilsen. Although specific figures are not known, it is clear that Doosan Arena was and still is an important place for sports enthusiasts and players of FC Viktoria Plzeň.

Seasonal recommendations

In the spring, the surroundings wake up and the colors are very lively. The sun shines gently and nature in this part of town begins to bloom, creating a pleasant mood for walks. I recommend arriving in the morning when the air is the purest. Wear layered clothing because the wounds may still be cold, but the afternoon will be nice and warm.

It's very hot here in the summer months and the sun shines the strongest. The day is long and everything around it is very lively, but due to high temperatures the visit can be difficult. The best thing to do is to arrive early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds and the most intense heat. Don't forget light clothes and plenty of fluids.

Autumn brings golden shades and softer light to this area, which is ideal for capturing beautiful views. The air is fresh and there is a quieter, until a bit of a memory mood. The ideal time to visit is this afternoon when the sun creates beautiful shadows. Prepare your coat or windbreaker because evenings are cold.

The winter period is quiet and quiet in this location. The days are short and the light is weaker, which gives the place a serious look. The number of visitors is the lowest at this time, so you can enjoy solitude. It is necessary to take very warm clothes and plan a visit around noon to avoid early twilight.
