Fontána v parku Boženy Němcové, located in the cadastral territory of the Karvina- city of Fryštát, is a neo-Baroque fountain with the sculpture of putts and dolphin. This cultural monument of the Czech Republic has a rich history and architectural elements that make it important for local and visitors from far away. Originally located in the park of the castle in Solce, but after its demolition in 1953 it was moved to Fryštát. In 1988, the sculpture was moved into the interior of the castle and a replica was built in its place.

The fountain was originally built in 1883 as part of the park castle in Solce. This period was an intensive industrialisation and modernization for Europe, which was also reflected in construction and works of art. In the Czech Republic there was a national movement and cultural revival that affected the creation of new monuments and restaurant of older objects. The neo-Baroque style of the fountain with its sculpture was typical of a time of more complex artistic forms.

Architectural is the fountain characterized by several interesting elements. The original swimming pool had a plan in the shape of an oval quadrilobu, later converted into a circular swimming pool with a rounded wall. In the middle of the tank there is a low base with rounded corners, on which is located a sculpture of two putts and a dolphin about 1.5 meters high. The floor, the walls of the tank and the base are concrete, wall and the sculpture itself are made of Swedish stone. From the mouth of the dolphin sprays out the waterworks.

The history of the fountain is rich in dramatic changes. In 1953 the castle was demolished because of the undermining, which led to the transfer of the fountain to Fryštát in 1970. This step was important for maintaining the monument and its location in a new place with better conditions for visitors. There was another significant change in 1988: the sculpture was moved into the interior of the castle and a replica was built in its place, allowing the original elements to be kept safe. In 2015, the fountain was subjected to repairs, the sculpture was restored and the surrounding area was modified.

Today the fountain is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and is worth a visit. Its history, architectural elements and efforts to preserve it make it an important location for lovers of history and art. The current state of the fountain is the result of careful restaurant works which ensure that it can continue to enjoy and appreciate its beauty and historical value. Visiting this monument offers an opportunity to explore the rich past of Fryštát and to understand the importance of the fountain for the local community.

Fontána v parku Boženy Němcové is not only a beautiful work of art but also a witness of historical changes and efforts to preserve cultural heritage. Welcome to Božena Germans Park. You are standing in front of one of the most important and beautiful elements of this green space. Before we dig deeper and explore all the details right in front of your eyes, just stop for a moment. Feel the surrounding atmosphere. Listen to the gentle, rhythmic sound of water that blends with the noise of trees and the calm of this place. In front of you is a Neo-Baroque fountain, which is not just an ordinary water element, but a real work of art, which carries the mast of ancient history. Look at its shapes, how light reflects from the surface and how water moves constantly. This fountain is the heart of the park and also a silent witness to the many changes that this city and our entire country have undergone.

Now that you've gotten used to her presence, let's go back in time together and find out how this monument got here. Her story is fascinating and full of unexpected twists. This beautiful fountain wasn't always part of this park. Her journey began a long time ago, in '83. That's when it was built in the park near the castle in Solce. Imagine that time when this fountain was part of a rich, private environment of the castle park where it served as an ornament for noble gardens. But history can be relentless and sometimes painful. In the year one thousand nine hundred fifty-three there was an event that changed everything - the castle in Solce was demolished. With his demise, it seemed that even this beautiful fountain could disappear forever or be forgotten. Fortunately, something else has happened. After several years of reflection and preparation, exactly in the year of a thousand nine hundred seventy, the fountain was moved here, to Fryštát, to Božena Nemcová Park. In this way, it has been preserved for future generations and has acquired a new home where it can now be a public treasure.

Now let's take a close look at what you're seeing. Note the style in which the whole work is done. It's a neo-Baroque style, which means we're looking for movement, dynamics and rich decoration in its shapes. By looking at you, you will surely be drawn immediately by the sculpture that decorate the top of the fountain. Look at the little playful characters that are here. It's a putti, that's one of those baby, mythical beings that are totally typical of this style. Their presence gives the whole piece ease and joy. Next to them, you'll see another important element - the dolphin. Notice how this work is masterfully processed. Even when you're looking at the replica, the quality of work is overwhelming. The original sculpture was made of a rare Swedish stone, which gives the whole part its unmistakable texture and beauty. Look at the dolphin - it is from its mouth that sprays out a watermark that gives the entire composition life and constant movement. Even the shape of the pool that the water falls into is very interesting. It has this strange, oval shape that we call a quadrilobus. This fine geometry creates a perfect basis for the whole sculpture work.

Perhaps you can think of one important question that has something to do with what you're watching. Why do they say you see a line? This is because in the year one thousand nine hundred eighty eight there was another important change. To preserve the original, rare sculpture with putty and dolphin, in that year it was moved directly to the castle to be protected in the interior. This faithful replica, which you now admire, was built at the place where the original stood. It's the way we managed to preserve the visual beauty of this place without compromising the original work of art. This whole monument has also undergone recent care. In the year two thousand fifteen the fountain was carefully repaired again and the sculpture restored so that for you and for those who come after you it would remain in such excellent condition. It is thanks to these efforts that this fountain is now recognised as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

There's one other thing that might interest you. Imagine the path this Swedish stone has taken. From the distant northern landscapes to the crown of this water work. And think about how this one object became a symbol of endurance. Even though the environment changed, even though the lock was destroyed, and even though the seats had to change, this fountain remained. It's a symbol of how people can protect what's beautiful and how they can transfer history from one place to another.

Now that you know the secret of this fountain, its history and its details, we invite you to further explore. The Božena German Park offers many other corners worth discovering. Take a walk on his travels, feel calm and enjoy the beauty of this day. Thank you for spending this moment with us and paying attention to this wonderful memory. We wish you a pleasant walk.
