Goldschmidtova vila, located on Maixner Street in Hořice, is a Neo-Renaissance building built in 1891-1893. This monument is remarkable with its architectural value and history associated with industrial development at the end of the 19th century, when it was built for brother Ferdinand and Josef Goldschmidt, famous manufacturers in the textile industry. In 1994 it became a cultural monument, although its state after several decades of neglect raised concerns about its preservation.

The creation of Goldschmidt Villa is closely linked to industrial development at the end of the 19th century, when new factories and cities were intensively built in the Czech Republic. The Ferdinand brothers and Josef Goldschmidt were then important entrepreneurs in the textile industry who built a representative residence in Hořice which reflected their achievements. The architect Fridrich Gloube designed a villa in the style of neo-Renaissance classicism, inspired by the work of Andrea Palladium, which contributed to its unique appearance and architectural value. A forest park was set up around the villa, which gave the place a romantic atmosphere.

The architecture of the Goldschmidt Villa is characteristic of the Neo-Renaissance style with classical elements. The construction was built from a local sandstone, which gave its facades a solid and elegance. The villa was proud of a harmonious combination of functionality and aesthetics, which contributed to the surrounding forest park. After the fire in 1997, the villa was left without roof and it grew with airwood, causing concerns about its preservation.

The history of the property changes of Goldschmidt's villa is rich in dramatic turnover. After the original ownership, the Goldschmidt brothers switched to Høman Reif from Vienna in 1931 and then in 1941 to Rosary Kupco. After World War II, it became a rental house where up to five families were housed. In 1970 it went under the administration of Czechoslovak state automotive repairs, but plans for its use as office buildings were not implemented. After several further changes in owners and neglect, it was declared a cultural monument in 1997, but its state raised concerns about its preservation.

Key events in the history of Goldschmidt's villa include a fire in 1997 that destroyed the interior and roof. After this incident, the villa was abandoned and without roof, which led to its gradual decline. In 2007, the landmark status was abolished due to an emergency situation, allowing new possibilities for its future. In 2017, the German married couple decided to buy a villa and began its reconstruction, which included building a new roof and repairing part of the facades. For their work on the conservation of monuments they received the prize of the city Hořice in 2020.

Today Goldschmidtova vila is open again to visitors who are interested in its history and architecture. The current condition of the villa is indicative of the successful efforts of its current owners to preserve this culturally important object. A visit to Goldschmidt's villa is an opportunity to explore the region's rich industrial and architectural heritage, making this monument not only historically interesting, but also visually attractive. Maintaining such monuments is crucial for understanding the past and its contribution to the cultural wealth of the region.

Welcome to Maixner Street in Hořice, where you are now in front of a unique monument - Goldschmidt Villa. This building awaits you with a new Renaissance architecture and a rich history to explore.

In 1891, construction of this impressive house began. It was built on the intention of the brothers Ferdinand and Josef Goldschmidt, who became famous in the textile industry. Architect Fridrich Gloube designed this villa in style inspired by the work of Andrea Palladia, making it unique among local building monuments.

Look up and notice the elegant facade with its symmetrical arrangement. It's exactly this neo-Renaissance architecture that gives the house its distinctive appearance. Details such as windows and arches are carefully designed to reflect the aesthetics of the time.

Let's move on to the history of this place. After several changes of owners, Goldschmidtova vila was declared a cultural monument in 1994. With this law, she has picked up her dignity among the region's historical building treasures, although her state of mind after several decades of neglect has raised concerns about preserving it.

The interesting thing is that this villa was built for factories, which reflects the rich history of the local industry. This place bears traces of the past and recalls the time when the textile industry became a key factor in the economy.

Sunny days bring warm light, which emphasizes architectural details of the building. Nature awakens from winter sleep and creates an admirable atmosphere full of hope and new beginnings. We recommend visiting a memorial in the early afternoon when the temperature is pleasant and the crowds are minimal. A good idea is to wear clothes suitable for mild weather, such as sweater or light jacket for colder moments.

Summer: Summer brings long sunny days and warm air, which is ideal for visiting outdoor monuments. Surrounded gardens are filled with flowering plants and trees provide shelter from the sun. The atmosphere is full of life, which can be an attraction for families with children. You would visit the memory in the early morning or later in the evening to avoid the middle of the day when temperatures are highest and crowds are the most. We recommend wearing light clothes, sunglasses and sun protective ties.

Autumn: The surroundings of Goldschmidt's villa of special melancholic beauty are growing in autumn. Tree leaves turn into vivid colors, providing a unique landscape for photography or just relaxation. The sunny days are shorter and the temperature is falling, which creates a pleasant climate to walk around the monument. It is interesting to visit it at the beginning or end of autumn, when the weather changes rapidly and nature gains new colors. We recommend wearing clothes suitable for colder weather, such as a sweater or jacket, and enjoying a quiet atmosphere without many visitors.

Winter: Winter brings a beautiful snowy landscape around Goldschmidt's villa if the weather is cold enough. The sunny days become rare and the atmosphere becomes quiet. You would visit a monument on a day of bright sun to enjoy long winter glass evenings and maybe even snow landscapes. Clothes should be warm, with emphasis on head protection and hands before cold. You would also visit it on a day when the weather is milder, to enjoy views without extreme frost.
