Hrádek Škvárovník Building

Damage maker, also known as Hrádek or Green Castle, is the romantic ruin of the summer castle in Teplice on the street U Hrádek no. 270. Built in 1805, this object attracts its history and architectural form. Since 1987 it has been a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The creation of the Damage Unit can be traced until 1802, when Tachov townsman and masonry master Franz Jerke started buying land on Letná (formerly known as Spital Hill). His ambitious plan was to create a cruise restaurant that would resemble the ruins of the castle. This idea is reflected in the style and available construction, which gradually took the form of a summer castle with various harbours until 1826 when Jerke died. In the first half of the 19th century, spa cities such as Teplice were popular between European nobility and intellectuals, reflecting the importance of the Damaged Man as a place to relax and meet.

Architecturally, the Damage Eater is a three-storey walled non-edged object triangular layout with terraces and round tower. The building materials were classic and baked bricks, stone, porcelain slag and brick chippings, which gave the name of this summer castle. The northeast facade has five window axes with an entry in the middle axis, while the northwest facade is divided by concessions and terraces with irregularly arranged windows. A short wing was added to the southeast side, which gave the construction additional architectural complexity.

The ownership and administration of the Damaged Man has changed over the years. After Franz Jerke's death his inheritance continued, but over time he lost the castle to popularity and was eventually abandoned. In 1987 the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic was declared a cultural monument, which meant the beginning of its protection and recognition of historical value.

The polluter was a popular place for several prominent personalities. These included the famous composer Richard Wagner, poet and playwright Johan Wolfgang Goethe, and Prussian king Fridrich Vilém III., who appeared every year in 1812-1839. This history shows the former glory and prestige of this place.

Today, the Ruffian is a ruin that draws attention to its romantic appearance and historical value. It can be visited by travelers who are interested in the history and architecture of the 19th century. Although it is no longer a functional restaurant, its remains resemble the rich past of the spa town Teplice.
