kaple svatého Huberta (Mstišov) Chapel

The chapel of St. Hubert lies in the middle of the village of Mstišov near Dubí in the district of Teplice. It's a simple but elegant Baroque temple dedicated to St. Hubert, patron hunter. Since 1964, it has been protected as a cultural monument.

The construction was built at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. It was built in 1707 on the provocation of František Karl Clary-Aldringen, a great nobleman of his time, builder Kristian Lagler. Although this is a modest scale, it reflects the quality of the building comparable to other monuments of the local nobility from the same period.

The building solution of the chapel is ground-plan oblong, with the facade dividing the Pilaster, thus achieving the impression of height and column. The facade is highlighted by a shield with volute wings, a motif typical of baroque architecture. On both sides of the entrance and in the stitching attachment there are niche with statues - there are statues of St. Hubert, St. Wenceslas and St. John Nepomuk, these guards with baroque elegance located.

The interior of the chapel is filled with harmony of the spatial composition. The ceiling is lined by a Prussian flat vault, a structural element typical of 18th century buildings, which provides the interior of the air and rhythm.

The equipment of the chapel indicates a careful approach to its internal treatment. The dominant is the main Rococo altar with carved attachment decorated by angels. It corresponds to the second half of the 18th century. The central decoration consists of a Baroque painting of St. Hubert, around which five oval paintings of the same period are symmetrically arranged. This painting equipment lets you see the rich iconographic tradition of the younger 18th century. The additional element is made up of a statue of Madonna from the first half of the 18th century, which will incorporate an element of more intimate piety.

The chapel has survived to a new age and stands as a testament to building skills thanks to its maintenance care. In 2005, its complete reconstruction took place, which restored the character and functionality of the chapel to its original state. Since then, the chapel serves not only as a place of interest for philosophers and historians, but also for the organisation of social and cultural events, thereby becoming a living part of the local community. Visiting Mstišov and seeing this Baroque building is an opportunity to learn how it has preserved and preserved the rich culture of centuries past.
