Teplice v Čechách is the main railway station of the city Teplice, located at the address Railway Square 599 / 53. Its history dates back to 1856, when a new railway line was established. In 1858 the connection between Teplicemi and Ústí nad Labem was launched. A station building, protected as a cultural monument, originally a smaller building rebuilt in 1871 into a new Romanesque style, was later extended between 1876-1878. The architecture includes a central two-storey building with a patrol station in an arched New Romanesque style, decorated with decorative elements and sculptures of workers. In 1900- 1908 another reconstruction was carried out according to Hermann Rudolph's plans from Teplice.

The creation of this railway station was related to the development of industry and transport in Austria-Hungary, which was typical of that time. The importance of the spa town Teplice contributed to its transport importance, especially after the introduction of the electric tram in 1895. The station building was formerly referred to as the architectural gem of Austria-Hungary and served as an important node for international connections.

The architecture of the station building is characterized by the New Romanesque style, which includes arches and decorative paintings. The entrance hall with dome vaults and window fillings highlights the historical value of the building. The railway station was previously the headquarters of the Ústecko-Teplice Railway Directorate.

Since its founding, the railway station has undergone several major events. In 1964, a SSSR-type relay protection device was installed which was later replaced by an ESA 11 electronic structure in 2006. In 2022, the first phase of the reconstruction of the station building was launched in order to restore its original appearance and preserve historical value.

Today Teplice v Čechách is not only a cultural monument, but also an important transport hub. The station serves as the beginning of several railway lines, including RegioTakt and long-distance connections. It offers various services for passengers, including cash register, luggage storage and toilet. The recent reconstruction focuses on the reconstruction of the facade and roof, which contributes to the preservation of its historical appearance.

Teplice v Čechách is not only an important transport hub, but also an architectural pearl that reflects the city's rich history and cultural heritage. Its reconstruction ensures that future generations can enjoy its beauty and importance. For those who want to explore the history of the Czech railway system and architecture of the 19th century, a visit to this station is necessary.

Welcome to Teplice in Bohemia. Right now, when you're listening to these words, you're standing in Station Square, and you have a place in front of you that is the heart of this city's transportation. Look around you and perceive the atmosphere of this space. There is a sense of movement, expectations and constant flow of people coming or going on their travels. In front of you is a building that is not just an ordinary object for passengers, but a living witness to the many decades that have passed by. Feel the weight of history that floats in this space, and realize that this is where everyday modern life meets the legacy of ancient times.

Now let's go back deep into the past together to understand how this place came to be. This whole chapter of history began a long time ago, namely in the year one thousand eight hundred fifty-six. That's when the foundations of what you know today as the main railway station began to form. It was a period of great change when the world began to move faster through new technologies. Two years later, in the year one thousand eight hundred fifty-eight, something fundamental happened. The railway line that connected Teplice to the city of Ústí nad Labem was put into operation. This moment was absolutely crucial for the whole region because it made it much faster and easier to move goods and people. Imagine the excitement of those people when they first heard the sound of an incoming train, which brought new opportunities for business and travel.

Now pay attention to the building itself, which is right before your eyes. If you look at her carefully, you'll see that her appearance tells the story of growth and change. Originally there was a much smaller building, but with the growing needs of the city, something larger and more dignified was needed. In the years of a thousand and eight hundred and seventy-one to a thousand and eight hundred and seventy-eight, the station went through a major reconstruction. The architecture you are now observing belongs to a style called the New Romanesque style. What do you notice when you look up? Focus mainly on the curves that are so typical of this style. These shapes give the building a sense of stability, strength and at the same time a certain historical elegance. This whole object is today protected as a cultural monument, which means that its historical and architectural significance is very rare for all of us and we must preserve it carefully.

Looking at the details of the building, you can realize the work of people who designed and changed it. The first design of the original station building was created by Josef Turba. He was the one who laid the first stones under this railway tradition. Later, however, the building was transformed again. Between a thousand and nine hundred and eight years ago, Mr. Hermann Rudolph of Teplice took part in her reconstruction. Thanks to these men, the station has the look you're seeing right now. It's fascinating how different architects from different periods intersect in one building.

But if you look below the surface of the building itself, into its internal mechanisms, you will find other fascinating stories. The history of the railway is not only about stones and curves, but also about technical pok avance. In the year one thousand nine hundred and sixty-four there was an important installation of a technical device that was supported by an electric relay. It was a device typical of the time and technical standards in our region at the time. After many years of operation, after decades of changing modes of traffic management, there was another big change. In the year two thousand and six, modern electronic equipment for station control was activated. This transition from mechanical and electrical switches to fully electronic control shows how the station had to adapt to the new age of information and high speed.

There's something that might interest you if you keep walking around. It's the invisible force of the connection. This station wasn't just a stop, it was a gate. Everyone who came here in the past had a story to tell -- someone coming to work, someone visiting the family, someone leaving home. And although technology changed from couples to relays to today's electronics, human emotions remain the same in this place. This building stands as a fixed point in a constant stream of time.

Now that you know the basics, history and technical aspects of this place, I suggest you continue your tour of the area. Perhaps you'll stop by some details of the facade you missed at first glance, or just enjoy a moment of peace in the square. Teplice v Čechách has many other secrets waiting to be discovered. Thank you for spending this moment with us and for being interested in the history of this important place. We wish you a pleasant time to discover our city and have a safe journey, whether you take the train or continue on foot. Goodbye.
