Usedlost čp. 79 Umgebinde house
Usedlost čp. 79 in the village Kamenický Šenov is mainly a grafted storey country house with a pedestal from the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. The building is an important example of folk architecture and since 1965 it has been listed in the state list of cultural monuments.
Limited reports are available on the oldest history of construction. However, it is documented that at the time of its creation the region of the northern Sudets was an important centre of the textile and glass industry. In the European context, it culminated in the Baroque period and gradually became classicism.
The building has a rectangular plan extended by two storeys. The first one (P1) is headed for the street Kostelní vrch. The ground floor is walled and vertically boarded; The upper floor is narrower, shorter and also walled with vertical formwork. The second annex (P2) is oriented into the garden, is also storey and probably whole walled. The entire building is covered by a Mansard halibut roof, currently covered with grey cover made of flat square scales.
The design details consist of vertically boarded shields with bars. The southwest facade has three window axes on the ground floor and on the floor, the bottom floor being statically reinforced with bandages. The northeast shield wall has two window axes on both floors and its ground floor is built without visible bandages. While the ceilings of the living rooms are beams, in the ground floor, there are preserved rolled vaults with lunettes.
The history of ownership reflects local economic conditions. In 1772 the house was owned by a glass trader Christian Weidlich and in 1781 it was acquired by Jakob Horn. In 1817, the butcher Anton Peterle became the owner. The building was subsequently owned by Johann Horn since 1850, Franz Wagner since 1879 and Josef Wagner since 1917. In 1925 the house was bought by Raimund Krebsm.
The interior layout of the ground floor included a hall from which the door to the lounge, a kitchen with access to the cellar and room. The skylight was connected to a smaller skylight, while there was a shed and a toilet in port P2. The floor formed a hall with access to two lights, a kitchen with a chamber above the cellar and a skylight. The ports served primarily as doors, corridors and sanitary areas.
The monument protection of the building was announced on 3 May 1958 and the building was subsequently entered in the state list of cultural monuments on 20 January 1965. The current state of January 2023 confirms the maintenance of the basic structure of the grafted house and its walled accessories.
This estate represents an authentic document of rural housing and craft tradition of the region. Her visit offers the opportunity to study details of Baroque folk architecture in the original location.

Tips for visitors
Best time to visit The settlement No. 79 is an early spring or late autumn when the sunlight hits the wooden facades at an angle and highlights historical details. In summer light can be too sharp and in winter reduced visibility. What to take with you: comfortable shoes on uneven terrain, water and possibly umbrella, as part of the tour takes place outside. We also recommend bringing a camera or smart phone with adjustable exposure time to capture the game of light and shadow on the grafted wall. Photography: The best places are front facade with pedestal and side side side overlooking wooden beams. Light in the morning and in the afternoon provides soft lighting that highlights the texture of the wood. Use a wide-angle lens to capture the entire object and a detailed lens for ornaments. Call on the children to imagine how people lived in the house in the 18th century, and let them look for old wooden joints and windows. There are no other tourist destinations in the nearby area, so you can spend your time and walk through the village roads and enjoy a quiet atmosphere.
