zámek Ostrolovský Újezd Chateau

The castle Ostrolovský Újezd is located less than 4 kilometres southwest of Borovan in the district of České Budějovice. Since 1963, it has been protected as a cultural monument. Today it stands as an example of the development of the Czech nobility from the Renaissance to the New Age.

At the beginning of the second half of the 16th century, local history changed fundamentally. The original medieval castle that stood here was already abandoned before 1534. In 1570 then Kryštof Kořenský z Terešova bought a residential estate. He decided to build a new Renaissance fortress at the sailing court where his brothers Václav, Wilhelm and George lived. After Christopher's death, he inherited the estate from William. Later he was owned by his wife Ludmila, who sold it to his second husband, Lukáš Kořenský of Teresov in 1614. After Lukáš's death in 1640 he was inherited by his son Christopher, who soon died abroad. The property was then taken over by cousin Václav František. In 1692 Jan Lukáš Antonín sold the estate to the city of České Budějovice, which owned it until the 20th century.

The building form of the castle reflects its long history. The original Renaissance fortress is a two-wing building with a saddle roof and south facing. Ground floor spaces are equipped with cross vaults. The sites are preserved with sgraffite plaster, which shows the quality of the original building. In the beginning of the 18th century the castle passed through Baroque reconstruction. At that time he was added to him a shouchar (1711). The western annex supported by headrest and tower above the roof were added during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Since the 19th century the purpose of the building changed - served as a school, later as a warehouse. Gradually, she was falling into oblivion. After 1990, the municipality of Ostrolovský Újezd bought it. The real reconstruction began in 2002 when the Malinski husband bought the castle.
