Točník Castle

Točník stands on the Castle Hill approximately one and a half kilometres north of the town of Žebrák in Berun district. The village of the same name lies at its feet and along with the ruin Žebrák contributes to the silhouette of the region of Central Bohemia, which speaks of the verb of medieval construction effort through the valley of the river Berounka.

The castle was founded by Czech king Václav IV. at the end of the 14th century He soon became an object of interest, and in 1425, during the Hussite wars, he successfully resisted a short siege, suggesting the strength of his construction. After the Hussite wars, the castle was in the hands of the lien owners of Kolovrat, the lords of Gutstejna and Vartenberk. These nobles gradually modified it, especially in the late Gothic style. It was later owned by Lobkovics, who had already made modifications in the Renaissance spirit. While under their rule the castle was still relatively maintained, it gradually began to decay. The Thirty Years' War hastened its fall, and during the seventeenth century it was finally abandoned, until it finally turned into today's ruin.

The arch of the architectural heritage Točníka is considerable. The castle is one of the Czech castles which reached a qualitative border between the castle and the castle. These bears were born on January 13, 2013 in Žatec and later performed on the TV series Bear on the road. Every year an event takes place in the castle in the sign of the chalice, which reminds of the Hussite tradition and puts it in the context of the present cultural identity of the place.
